ARTIST BIO

I was born in Darwin, and now live in Canberra, Australia. My
mother has amazing artistic talent, and encouraged me to draw
and paint. As a little girl, I remember Mum drawing countless female
figures for me, so I could draw on prissy princessy clothes, outrageous,
frazzled, twisted, bejeweled hair, fairy wings, and heaps of gaudy make up!

I was drawn to the mystical world from an early age, and just love
spending my spare time even now, painting elves, faeries, witches,
mermaids, and any wonderful creature with dark, otherworldly beauty.
I prefer to paint in watercolour, but I also occasionally use acrylic paints
and pencils. I love to read and write poetry - some of my poems have
been published in anthologies. I am inspired in both my writing and
painting by Norse and Celtic mythology, fantasy and pre-Rafael art,
the works of J R R Tolkien, and romantic poetry. The artists I greatly
admire include Jessica Galbreth, Amy Brown, Maxine Gadd, Brian
Froud, Alan Lee, John Waterhouse, and my mum.
